GALERIE VOLKER DIEHL is focused on contemporary art with international relevance. The programme includes the emerging Indian stars Shilpa Gupta (Mumbai/India) and Rina Banerjee (New York), the internationally acclaimed Chinese born artist Zhang Huan (New York), the renowned Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa (Barcelona), and the Russian groups Blue Noses and AES+F (Moscow). Next to these international positions the programme is balanced and rooted by German artists such as the painters Herbert Volkmann, Martin Assig and Martin Borowski as well as the photographers Thomas Florschuetz and Frauke Eigen.
Last year, GALERIE VOLKER DIEHL moved into a new 400 m2 venue in a newly renovated gallery building on Lindenstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The gallery‘s newest addition, DIEHL + GALLERY ONE, recently opened in Moscow on April 17, with its inaugural show Like Truth by Jenny Holzer. It was then followed by a group show of Russian political art from the 80‘s (Sots Art), Glasnost/Perestroika, and a recent solo show of Wim Delvoye‘s New Works. Volker Diehl is the first Western gallerist to open a gallery space in Moscow.
